An evening of new work, reconnection, and celebration

The Dark Stone, by internationally celebrated playwright Alberto Conejero, explores what happens when a confrontation with another becomes a confrontation with the self. The Dark Stone, featured in our Staged Reading Series 2018 and the Spotlight on Contemporary Spanish Theater in 2021, is a tribute to the victims of the Spanish Civil War and a homage to Lorca, one of the greatest poets and playwrights from Spain. AENY’s film reimagines this story of difference and reconciliation as a preview for its upcoming stage debut in New York.

Alongside the world premiere of the short film interpretation of The Dark Stone, AENY will screen our favorite Mini Micro Theaters, many produced during the pandemic, and preview upcoming events. Following the program, enjoy complimentary wines and bites and meet the growing AENY network of creatives and audience members to celebrate this new stage of AENY.

The Dark Stone is made possible in part with public funds from Creative Engagement, a regrant program supported by the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council and the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered by LMCC.
